Paula Valero demands “policies of protection for the DOP “Cider of Asturies”.
THE CIDER.- The Podemos Asturies’ deputy , Paula Valero attended on last Turesday to the Hall of the DOP Cider, which was held in Mieres del Camín and gathered all the professionals of the sector. The parliamentary Paula Valero reminded the documents disclosed by Greenpeace about the TTIP showed that the “Asturian denominations of origin are not inside the list of DOP of Europe for the negotiations with the USA”, so she demanded “policies of protection at statal range and European too for Asturian cider, if we want this to have a clear future and dimension beyond our autonomous community”, stated she referring to our country.
During her visit to the Hall of the DOP Cider, the deputy assessed the “Awards for the 2016 Harvest” as “one of the biggest supports for the rural world and harvestig sector” and gave her con gratulations to the cider producers that were awarded in this edition.
The DOP, said she, is the only frame that guarantees the Asturian origin of the apple. In that way Paula Valero highlighted the need of “enhancing the cider apple producer sector and enlarge the denomination ot include more varieties”.
