María Jesús Álvarez added: “one mroe year Asturies is present with its products such as cider, meat, seafood or cheeses. Many of them seals of quality with protected geographic locations or protected denomination of origin. And all of them under the quality seal “Foods from the natural paradise” that we want to wmpower now. This label aslo figure in the primary products, foods and goods”:
LA SIDRA magazine was the only media present that asked the councilwoman about the difficulties of the Asturian cider culture to be declared World’s Intangible Heritage by the UNESCO. “This kind of announcements take time. We took the first step, the “Principality” did it on the last legislature. We are now in the phase of fulfilling the documents to go on. This takes time and won’t be done tomorrow. We’re working on it”, stated.
Besides LA SIDRA magazine asked María Jesús Álvarez about the problems the Nava’s Cider Museum is suffering from some years now. The answer was the same “we are working on it”. “This is an initiative tight to the cider promotion and also a cultural and touristic plan. Thus it’s needed a multidisciplinary approach for being a sign not only of Nava but of all Asturies”, she said. And regarding the proposal of Nava’s mayor to include it inside Recrea, María Jesús added that “this is one of the worklines and we are working on it”, repeated she.
During the rest of the day the Asturian companies offer the people the best of their products. Outside the stand of the “Principality” in the gourmet cheeses area there were Quesos Rey Silu and Cooperativa Agrovaldés with their section of Quesos El Rebollín. Both participate in the Best Cheese of Spain contest, to be developed during the four days of the event.
