This business, run by Loreto García since 1977, undertook a major reform last year, with which he expanded the ability to follow his excellent traditional recipes with the best cider, including Sidra JR, with which he has been working since its inception.
LA SIDRA.- The Madreñeru has become, on its own merits, a cider bar of reference in La Pola Siero, located in Les Campes square, in the heart of the city. This business run by Loreto García began in 1997, at the place where his grandfather, Milio “El Madreñeru”, had the workshop where he made madreñes or traditional Asturian clogs and whom he wanted to honor. That space was left small and had to move, a decade ago, its current location, where it has made a spectacular reform last year, expanding the cider bar and converting, without losing the essence and with an original decoration, in a very cozy place .
This cider bar is the ideal place to taste the excellent traditional recipes, learned from its mother, of Asturian cuisine – stuffed onions, Iberian pork cheeks with chestnut cream, sweetbreads … -, accompanied by the best cider. And not only for the quality of the traditional Asturian drink, but also for the thorough selection and pouring process, since Loreto – Asturies champion of pouchers in 2009 – takes care of even the smallest detail for the cider is always perfect.
