Cider and apple nougat is the image of the ONCE lottery today.
LA SIDRA.- The Spanish National Organization for the Blind (ONCE) has decided to honour those craft bakers who make Christmas sweets by means of a series of tickets which show the most representative ones from every region.
Today the lottery, with five and a half million tickets issued, features cider nougat, a nod to the quintessential Asturian drink.
The picture chosen shows one of the most representative desserts from Colón Bakery, located in Villaviciosa, made with almond, sugar and natural cider which replaces water when baking.
The bakery, which has taken part in events like the Tour of France, Princess of Asturias Awards and Xixón Natural Cider Festival, is well-known for the making of sweets whose main ingredients is apple.
Their willingness to experiment and design new products connected with apple and cider has led them to create specialities such as the cider cake, apple and cider jams, Villaviciosa cake, granny’s buns, cider liqueur “borrachinos”, apple jellies or cider liqueur filled chocolates.
