Foro proposes the presentation of the candidacy of cider to Unesco

Foro’s Parliamentary Group presented a proposal for the Government of Asturies to prepare and present the candidacy of the Asturian cider culture  to Intangible Heritage of UNESCO in 2019.

It is the only official action in this regard carried out in the “Principality” since 2014.

THE SIDRA.- The president of Foro Pedro Leal announced during his visit to the festival of the cider of Nava the presentation of a Proposition No of Law so that the Government of Asturies definitively presents the candidacy of the Asturian culture of cider as Heritage Intangible of Humanity by UNESCO in the year 2019.

It is necessary to consider that said candidacy was announced by the “Principality” in 2010, and that the last official action of the Asturian Government in this respect was in 2014, even though the declarations to the media are  repeatedly advertised.

Pedro Leal considers that “obtaining this declaration would be valuable for the promotion and protection of heritage related to the culture of cider” and reasons that “the Asturian culture of cider covers much more than the ritual of natural cider pouring, since the It is a relevant and intimate piece associated with our Autonomous Community. At the same time, being more than a drink, it forms a hallmark of our rich gastronomy due to its tradition and popularity, and is a powerful element of tourism promotion that is in full swing. ”

For the president of FORO, “cider is part of our way of life, of relating, of festivities and constitutes a hallmark of Asturias, becoming over the years a dynamic instrument of the economy, culture and of the quality mark of Asturias “.
