The famous restaurant in Aviles, together with Arbidel and Casa Consuelo, newly awarded in Repsol travel guide.
LA SIDRA.- The new Repsol Guide 2018 has included three new Asturian restaurants in its pages, thus joining 17 more establishments recommended in Asturias by the famous guide.
Casa Consuelo in Luarca, Arbidel in Ribadesella and Casa Tataguyo in Aviles have been distinguised with a “sun”, which highlights their varied and quality cuisine.
The history of the cider bar in Aviles, placed in El Carbayedo square, starts in 1845, when the Tataguya already existed as an inn and house of meals under the name of Casa Campanal. Later on, in 1905, it became Casa Tataguyo, its actual name, with Juan Rivero Santamaría as the restaurant owner since 1985.
The cider bar still keeps characteristics of the former traditional cuisine, as their renowned tripe and stews, among which you can find their speciality, spicy pork sausage and potatoes.
The quality of their raw materials also stands out, and includes fish and seafood from the ports of Aviles and Cudillero, Asturian red meats and cheeses and the adding of seasonal dishes, more innovative but true to their principles.
As an anecdote, Brad Pitt’s visit is still recalled in the restaurant, where he stopped to drink some cider and he even dared to pour it.
