The popular cook in Channel 3 presented yesterday a typical Asturian recipe, in which cider did not go amiss.

In the recipe there was no lack of cider as one of the main ingredients, and this led to an anecdote explained by the cook with cider on a major role.

As a great cycling fan, the went to Covadonga lakes to see one of the legendary Tour of Spain cycling courses. Once there he went down to the village with a friend of his and, as he tells, people did not stop offering them cider glasses to drink. It became to a point in which both him and his friend ended up hitchhiking on opposite sides of the road until a journalist friend of theirs gave them a lift to the hotel. After pointing out that cider should not be abused of, the praised our traditional drink.

Arguiñano, who visited Asturias for the first time in a school trip to Ensidesa, recalled when he tried kidney beans with clams for the first time, accompanied by good cider of the area. In his programme there was no lack of references to the good cuisine in Asturias, but always pairing the dishes with delicious Asturian cider.
