American “sidra-style” ciders

Sidra, or Asturian cider, is getting attention from American cidermakers.

LA SIDRA.- The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) is about to release Asturian apple varieties to the United States, which means American cider consumers will see a lot of more authentic “sidra-style” ciders going forward.

Many North American cidermakers who craft dry, effervescent ciders are paying homage to the true essence of our ancient cider processes and start adding Asturian apple trees on American soil.

Thus, we find Millstone Cellars’ Sidra Americana, Finnriver Farm & Cidery’s Sidra, Inclinado Sidra by Tilted Shed Ciderworks, Sidra Bravo by Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider or the sounding ¡No Pasarán! Sidra by Blackduck Cidery, with the traditional freshness and tartness associated to Asturian cider.
