Graciano García suggests the creation of the Sweet Cider of Asturias Week
LA SIDRA.- How can we solve the current situation of the apple superharvest?
Graciano Garcia, retired director of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, seems to have found the solution: to create the Sweet Cider of Asturias Week. And so he said the day before yesterday in social networks, an approach which was very well received by his followers.
And this is because the situation we are going through this year with the apple excess is a matter of great concern: the harvesters do not know how to place the remaining tons of apples, as cidermakers have no capacity to absorb such a big amount, and institutions do not appear to reach an agreement to search for a solution to this problem.
Meanwhile, the apples keep on rotting in the orchads, and this seems to be the reason why Grupo 5,000, who gives in the idea at no price, wants to find a way through to please everyone.
For the time being, this idea, aimed to any village or group of cidermakers who show interest in it, is having great acceptance on Facebook. “This year there is excess of apples. Let’s press them and enjoy the juice” or “An extraordinary idea, we are a blessed land and we are not aware of our great potential” were some of the comments received after being posted.
