Cider arrives in the Aragon Pyrenees

The Fair in Aínsa held the presentation of the first cider made in Huesca.

LA SIDRA.- The Association Un Paso Atras-Arto, together with the Rondadora Brewery team, presented the first cider from Aragon on 4th February.

This organization is characterized by the recovery of indigenous vegetal and animal species in the area, in this case, fruit orchads from Sobrarbe, as it happens with the apple trees.

For this purpose, they have picked and planted dozens of apple varieties and several grower partners have set up eco-friendly apple plantations.

Though the core production goes into eating apples, this year they have decided to make cider and apple juice.

Thus, this autumn they contacted Rondadora Brewery, who had never produced cider, but thought of it as a good idea and offered his premises and knowledge on fermented beverages making.

In november the cidermaking process started and they eventually presented a total of about 200 litres, as a pilot testing, in the Ainsa Castle Stables during their annual fair.

The tasting was paired with Pyrenees veal and Cañabla de Broto cheeses.

The association has showed very proud of the result and they intend to market it in 2019.
