Homemade cider takes the leading role in Infiesto

The House of Culture hosted a workshop on the making of the traditional beverage.

LA SIDRA.- Piloña hosted yesterday a workshop about the making of cider and by-products organized by the local Homemade Cider Association.

In it, topics like conditioning were discussed, a main issue involved in cider fermentation which can vary due to the special weather conditions in Asturias in the last years.

The workshop also focused on the different cider by-products that can be made, such as ice cider, sparkling cider and liqueurs, with simple and low-cost tecniques.

In this session, women cidermakers claimed their role in the cider world: “It is important to widen our formation, till now women have not had significance in this world”, attendants to the homemade cidermaking course pointed out.
