The former Beer Academy relaunches itself with cider education courses.
LA SIDRA.- The Beer Academy was originally founded in 2003 by a small group of beer enthusiasts and quickly attracted support form brewers and beer retailers, which led to a series of courses and training materials by specialists with a real passion for beer.
As the cider industry expands, they have decided to relaunch itself as The Beer & Cider Academy, with a fresh look, new cider course offerings and a leading presenter, Gabe Cook, also known as The Ciderologist.
The new name and look was presented at the end of October at London’s Hawkes Cidery and Taproom, where they held a cider and food pairing session and presented the route to pommelier, cider’s versión of a sommelier.
Cook, commited to the mission of ensuring the world understands the richness, variety and complexity of cider and perry, said this is a crucial moment to put in contact people involved in the cidermaking processes and final consumers.
The Foundation Course will be held in London in December and next year the Advanced Cider Course and a detailed How to Judge Course will be in progress. All courses can be booked through the organization’s website.
After the success achieved with beer courses, talks and tastings, they expect to reach the same with cider and train real cider pommeliers.
