The celebration, declared of Regional Tourist Interest, starts tomorrow with the opening of the Mercadín de la Cider y la Manzana
LA SIDRA.- Tomorrow, Friday, the XXIX Edition of the Xixón Natural Cider Festival will begin and will last until Sunday, August 30. In this edition, the activities that concentrated large amounts of public will not be held, such as the World Record of Simultaneous Escanciado, the Cancios de Chigre in the Plaza Mayor or the tasting day.
However, the Cider and Apple Market will open in and around the Plaza Mayor, as well as talks about the sector (August 27, 28 and 29 at the Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto); the pourer contest that will be on August 27 from 5:30 pm; and the Gold Praise Award for the best cider presented at the Fiesta. The award ceremony will be on Sunday 30 at 2:30 p.m.
Ell Mercadín will have 20 artisans and this year occupies much more space than in previous editions, to facilitate public transit and favor safety distances. In addition to the Jardines de la Reina, its usual location, it will also occupy the Plaza Mayor and Plaza de Revillagigedo. Likewise, the talks will take place in gauged spaces, to control public access and its traceability, and both the Pouring Competition and the Gold Praise Prize tastings will be held, behind closed doors, in the Atlantic Botanical Garden.
